Papua Indonesian, Adolof Gogoya, has been elected as a member of the local Parliament representing Jayapura, the West Papuan capital city.

Rev Markuu Koivistu

He believes he is God's man in that place, where the people have entrusted him to uphold his solemn oath to uphold righteousness for the benefit of the people.
"It is a wonderful privilege to serve my community in this way," Adolof explained in an interview. "I believe the Lord has called me to this role for two reasons: so that I can minister both to other Parliamentarians, and to the wider community."

The Papua Indonesia system of Government is a representative democracy, following the democratic system as exists in Western countries such as Australia.
Adolof Gogoya was one of the Papua Indonesian delegates at the recent Baptist World Alliance Living Water Australasian-South Pacific conference held in Cairns, where he gave me a video testimony for Australian Missionary News IPTV.

This IPTV channel is a courtesy of Safe Worlds IPTV, which provides a Christian channel within their commercial IPTV network. It is run by Well-Being Australia's "Basil Sellers Press Service International."

"My parents were two of the first evangelists to the Dani peoples in this region of Papua," Adolof Gogoya said.

He was bought up in a Christian environment and gave his life and heart to the Lord Jesus and was subsequently baptized when he was a teenager.

He was very pleased to tell the Australian Missionary News IPTV that he had "one wife" and three children, two daughters and one son.

"Because my parents taught me about Jesus' love and His Salvation, it was part of my heritage, but there came a time when I had to make my own decision to follow Jesus and accept Him as my Savior," Adolof mused.

Adolof Gogoya went on to say that he has realized that, unless he had made this decision to follow Jesus he would still have been living in darkness. Jesus showed him the light and in this way, in his own words, he states categorically: "I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior."
