Linda Watson28 DAYS OF PRAYER LEADING INTO THE FEDERAL ELECTION

Australian Prayer Network
News Update :

24th October 2007

SUNDAY 28th OCTOBER till SATURDAY 24th NOVEMBER (INCLUSIVE)

The Australian Prayer Network is pleased to join with all the major National Prayer Networks in Australia in calling all Christians to a 28 day season of prayer leading into the forthcoming Federal Election.  We are indebted to the Parliamentary Prayer Network, under the leadership of Pastor Lynne Klomp, who has prepared the following prayer themes and scriptures which are being used by all participating networks and Churches across Australia. The option to fast is available to those led of the Lord to also engage in that way.

The prayer themes and scriptures below have been prepared from  responses sent in by many Intercessors to the question "what kind of Government do you want".

We encourage Churches to include the respective readings and prayer themes in their weekly Church bulletins so that those without access to a computer may also be able to engage in this season of prayer. How to pray into each theme is left to each individual according to their personal leading from the Lord.  The prayer themes and scriptures will act as a guide in this respect.

We will be sending each week's prayer theme's and scriptures out each Tuesday. Should you wish to have all 4 week's together you may download all the material now from our website at www.ausprayernet.org.au

WEEK 1...Sunday 28th October – Saturday 3rd November

Prayers for the Church

Sunday 28th October

Our prayer:  That we would love You and obey your laws.

Scriptures:  Lev. 26 : 3-12; Mark 12 : 29-31; Luke 10 : 27; Isaiah 62 : 10

Monday 29th October

Our prayer:  With Your help that we would obey the laws of our nation and respect the authority of its leaders.

Scriptures:  Romans 13 : 1-7; Hebrews 13 : 17; 1 Peter 2 : 17

Tuesday 30th October

Our prayer:  That we would commit to pray consistently for the Parliament and repent for our prayerlessness.

Scriptures:  1 Tim 2 : 1-7; 2 Chronicles 7 : 14; Ephesians 6 : 10-12

Wednesday 31st October

Our prayer:  We resolve to be on the alert, stand firm in the faith and walk in holiness. By Your Spirit remove our double standards so that as Christians we do not require a higher standard for leaders than we practise ourselves. Teach us always to speak blessing over our leaders and the Parliament.

Scriptures:  1 Cor 16 : 13,14;  Psalm 51;  Romans 12 : 9 &10

Thursday 1st November

Our prayer:  Keep us faithful to fulfil our responsibilities to preach the Gospel in the nation and beyond, and not place ungodly expectation upon Government to fulfil our role. However, we ask you to strengthen the spiritual relationship between the church and the Parliament, so that the church may always be able to freely preach the gospel.

Scripture:  Matthew 28 : 18-20;  Colossians 1 : 27-29;  Isaiah 61

Friday 2nd November

Our prayer:  Help us to arise and attend to the matters which are important to You, including repentance, justice, mercy and righteous anger against evil that has been tolerated. May we rend our hearts, not our garments.

Scriptures Joel 2 : 12-17

Saturday 3rd November

Our prayer:  We thank You for Your faithfulness in the past and believe that greater glory is to come; nothing is too hard for You, dear God. We let go of any anxiety about the outcome of the election.

Scriptures:  Jeremiah 32 : 38-41;  Jeremiah 33 : 3
