Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the most important man in the world of politics at present. He warned the world in June Iran must not be allowed to pursue nuclear weapons. He said he believed we are repeating 1939 and Israel would not tolerate another Hitler.
The London-based Al-Hayat reported this week (November 14) that French President Nicolas Sarkozy has warned Syrian President Bashar al Assad, Israel may attack Iran if an agreement on the cessation of their nuclear program is not final soon.
Sarkozy met with Netanyahu three days earlier.
Israel Radio is reporting Iran has already rejected a deal on its nuclear priogram proposed by the P5 + 1. They said US President Barack Obama has postponed announcing the decision ‘for internal political reasons.’
Stratfor analysts also reported that a senior unnamed Western official has also said, Iran has refused to resume talks with the P5 + 1 nations.
The chair of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Nov. 14 warned Russia to deliver the S-300 air defense systems to Iran. He threatened Iran is ‘not a country which would stop short of action in dealing with countries who fail to deliver on their promises.” If ever Iran over stepped the mark, this was it!
On November 16 Russian President Dmitri Medvedev said Russia and the United States could employ other means if talks on Iran’s nuclear program do not yield results. If the talks with Iran fail the Russian said ‘other options remain on the table.’
Medvedev met with US President Obama on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Singapore over the weekend. In a statement ominous for Iranian plans Medvedev said he was willing to work further with the United States on the Iranian nuclear issue.
The mystery of the strange and awkward negotiations with Iran deepened further this week when it was learned former Iranian deputy defense minister Ali Reza Asgan has been held in Israel since he disappeared while on a trip to Turkey in 2006. A German defense official said Asgen defected and has provided the West with information on Iran’s nuclear program. There are already factions forming within the Iranian leadership and some quite nervously are against further defiance by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. If Russia remains openly aggressive towards Iran expect climate change.
If not, Israel prepares for intervention and the world waits.
