The brutality of activities in the Middle East was highlighted over the weekend when terrorist leader Nassan Nasrallah displayed his angst.
The merciless leader expects the Israeli’s to announce in coming days the two IDF reservists Eldad Regav and Udi Goldwasser are dead and their place of burial unknown.
Apart from the screaming headline which says these men are dead, the main interest appears to be the Hizbullah leader has lost his clout, his bargaining chips.
Local media has been feeding from a report by Maariv. They assessed a recent announcement by Nasrallah which said he held possession of the body parts of the Israeli soldiers. They anticipated that this will be followed by an Israeli announcement that the men are no longer alive.
Nasrallah wants to negotiate with Israel about the remains of the men. This is a serious offer in the light of Jewish belief on the sanctity of those body parts.
The Hizbullah boss suggested there are negotiations under way with Israel that will soon be fruitful
Infolive TV gave this report: “In December 2006, an IDF medical report regarding the conditions of the two reservists estimated that they were seriously wounded when captured, and that one of the reservists was critically wounded in the July 12, 2006 abduction. Since their abduction, Hizbullah has refused to reveal any details of the conditions of the two soldiers, including proof that they are alive. At the time the IDF released a statement saying the army was working on the assumption that both reservists are still alive.”
The US President George W. Bush believes Israel should sign a peace treaty before the end of his term. Mrs Goldwasser said, she is aware that her husband and Regev may not be alive. She clings to the hope that they may be.
None of these people worry about the legacy that may be listed historically for the President of the USA.
Whatever happens to the lives of their loved ones will remain fact no matter what.
This peace plan is not a computer game where the participants can hit “Escape” when they want out.
This war will continue while the Nasrallahs and terrorists see results achieved by killing innocents.
They also feel a major sense of success when they see their behavior affects a weary US public and maybe, could decide the next occupant of the White House.
The proposed new Palestinian state seems to be more a legacy to Yasser Arafat than anyone else.
