Vladimir Putin – Czar in the Making!

24 October, 2007

When author Joel C. Rosenberg published his non-fiction book “Epicenter,” his earlier fiction works had already caused a stir. Rosenberg predicted a kamikaze type attack on the U.S., war with Saddam Hussein, the death of Yasser Arafat and those predictions and their ultimate fulfilment, attracted the attention of the major U.S. TV and news networks who suggested he had ‘inside information.’

He also predicted a nuclear threat against Israel.

Rosenberg established a theme of predicting major international events and it continues to this day. I thought of “Epicenter” as Vladimir Putin arrived in Iran in October. He became the first Russian leader to visit Tehran since Stalin.

Phrases from “Epicenter” chapter titles came to mind:

“A Czar Rises in Russia!” (Chapter 7)
“Kremlin Joins Axis of Evil – Forms Military Alliance with Iran.” (Chapter 8) “Moscow Extends Military Alliance to Include Arab, Islamic World.” (Chapter 9)
“Global Tensions Soar as Russia Targets Israel.” (Chapter 10)

All these (and more) written in 2006!  “Epicenter gives you the headlines before they happen!” reads the promotional announcement for the book.

During the Putin visit to Tehran I spoke with Joel Rosenberg.  Not surprisingly he said: “The fact Vladimir Putin is in Iran building a military, political and economic alliance with Iran is incredibly dangerous. Iran is the most dangerous terrorist state on the face of the planet.

“Iran is building not just nuclear facilities but feverishly trying to build, buy or steal nuclear weapons.

“Iran is run by a leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who believes the end of the world is rapidly approaching, and the way to hasten the coming of the Islamic messiah, known as the Mahdi or the twelfth Imam, Ahmadinejad believes, is to annihilate two countries – Israel, whom he calls the Little Satan and the United States, whom he calls the Great Satan.”

“So you’ve got Iran driven by radical Shiite eschatology or end-time theology planning a genocide against Judeo-Christian civilization and here’s the president of Russia giving new weapons and international credibility to Iran.”

“I think this could be a prophetic development!” he said.

Dr Condoleezza Rice visited Moscow just days before Putin went to Iran. She expressed U.S. concerns. “I think there is too much concentration of power in the Kremlin. I have told the Russians that!” Rice told journalists after she met with Russian human-rights activists.

A U.S. official described Russia as “the number two military power in the world, second only to the United States.”

Joel Rosenberg labelled Vladimir Putin “a czar in the making.” He told me the Russian leader believes the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the twentieth century was the collapse of the Soviet Union, called by many, “the evil empire.”

The driving force in the passion of Putin is the restoration of the super-power he knew Mother Russia to be, in the glory days, Rosenberg said.

While the West encouraged Vladimir Putin to seek a democratic government system for Russia, he steadfastly maintained his steely objectives.

He cancelled the election for governors in Russia and now appoints them himself.

He has taken over the oil and gas industries.

The Kremlin now controls Russian television and radio stations.

Political opponents have been ousted and more will follow in the elections set down for December.

No name mid-level bureaucrats have been given titles in the Duma (Russian legislature), so they can be moved on at the right time

Under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, the former KGB agent, Russia has dramatically increased its military arsenal. The budget for his next defence program is $200 bn.

He has boldly made lucrative customers out of U.S. adversaries Iran and Syria.

There should be no surprise. In Munich last February Vladimir Putin said: “One state, the United States, has overstepped its national borders in every way … This is nourishing the arms race with the desire of countries to get nuclear weapons.”

He expressed dissatisfaction with U.S. plans to establish an anti-missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic. The system is designed to detect missiles coming out of North Korea and Iran.

Putin: “No One Could Stop Me!”
The former KGB agent knows how to plot his course, bide his time, recruit his contacts and close for the kill.

In his biography Putin wrote of his earliest ambitions. He wanted to become a spy. “It seemed unattainable, liking flying to Mars,” he wrote.

While in the ninth grade, he went to the local KGB office in Leningrad to make enquiries. He was told he needed qualifications.

“What’s the best degree to get?” asked Putin. “A law degree,” his KGB adviser said. “I understand” said Putin, who set his sights on a law degree at Leningrad State University. “No one could stop me,” he wrote.

He enrolled in the university in 1970. He studied law and German and spent his spare time with his new passion judo. “Judo,” he wrote, “is not just a hobby, but a philosophy.” He enjoyed the discipline required to be a judo player and went on to gain his black belt.

Years later when he was prime minister he said: “Why did the Soviet Union break up? Because things were allowed to happen: laxness. And if we continue like this, Russia will fall apart, and it will happen so fast, you can’t even imagine it.”

He was born 7th October, 1952 in Leningrad. He served in the East Germany KGB 1985-90. His wife Lyudmila described Vladimir Putin as a workaholic.

In the 2000 election Vladimir Putin obtained 53% of the vote and four years later he was re-elected with a landslide 71%.

In their analysis of his approval rating, the outside source OSCE said the margin reflected his popularity but also referred to the “dearth of meaningful debate and genuine pluralism” within the Russian community.

Nashi – “Our People Stand Up for Putin!”
One of the more obvious concerns is the growing energy and power of Nashi (meaning ‘ours’), a fledgling Russian youth movement. Nashi started in 2005. It is training a new generation of 100,000 young Russians.  Some, they say, will be ready for leadership roles by 2009.

Already their training incorporates geopolitics, history and economics taught in 25 different institutes across Russia.

A report by the International Herald Tribune said they are taught Russian traditions and marriage ‘and a detestation of foreigners.’ (IHT.10/10/07)

The question is whether that ‘detestation’ is aimed at American imperialists, Chechen terrorists, or Estonian ingrates.

Nashi is to be delegated community roles such as maintaining order in the streets. There are fears they will be aggressive and racist. “Vast numbers have recently been mobilized to harass the British and Estonian ambassadors in Moscow, following Moscow’s disputes with those two countries.” (IHT)

There have been reports of wild Nashi summer camps where young Russians are heavily dosed with nationalism and pride for a new, reformed, powerful Russia.

“Our people stand up for Putin,” a Nashi leader told the BBC.

In his IHT article Paul Kennedy said, “According to the Financial Times, Nashi is training 60,000 ‘leaders’ to monitor voting and conduct exit polls in elections this coming December and March. I find all this pretty creepy.”

Rosenberg likened it to the Hitler youth movement and the personality cults promoted by Stalin and North Korea.

Authors have created a new manual for high school teachers. The new books are meant to instil new pride in teenagers for Russian history and build a new national solidarity.

We have seen what Palestinian ‘history’ teaches and how children are subjected to grave hysterical rather than historical fairy-tales.

Putin personally congratulated the authors who officially teach Russian teenagers “entry into the club of democratic nations involves surrendering part of your national sovereignty to the U.S.” (IHT)

* Russia has made a bold claim on energy resources beneath the North Pole.

* Putin came alongside Iran and its nuclear ambitions when other nations proposed sanctions.

* From its seat on the UN Security Council Russia controls what actions can be taken against Iran and other like-minded radicals.

* Russia uses its huge energy resources to manipulate and control energy-dependent neighbours. Even Western giants like British Petroleum and Exxon find themselves in weakened positions because of the growing influence of the Russian oil cartel.

The Ezekiel Option
Joel Rosenberg spoke to me about Ezekiel 38 and 39. He pointed to the war of Gog and Magog and ancient names that mean Russia and Iran (Persia). These words were written 2,500 years ago and have not been fulfilled to this day.

Ezekiel said a Russian dictator would arise and form an alliance with Iran. Joel Rosenberg believes the visit to Tehran by Vladimir Putin was the early stages of these verses coming true.

He warned the total fulfilment of those chapters may take a long time but he emphasised ‘the events that are taking place are quite historic – dramatic developments.”

In “Epicenter” there is an excellent addendum  - “Frequently Asked Questions.” In one section Joel Rosenberg wrote: “I often think of the words of Gandalf from the last film of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, ‘The Return of the King.’ As events unfold and the clouds of war are brewing, Gandalf says, ‘The board is set. The pieces are moving.’ As I write this, I would say the board is almost set, and God is putting the pieces in place for the final drama to begin.’”
