Pray 4 Australian Police

July 2010

When the Blue Line's Thinnest  is the title of a Poem by former Police Officer, A.B. Gunter who served in the NSW Police Force in the 80's.

What motivates his silence
On the days he seldom speaks
The shift before or the one ahead
Maybe mates out on the street
What occupies his thought life
As he in darkness sits alone
What’s going through his mind
In those moments on his own

Why are some days just so good
While others fall apart
And some just spell disaster

Please Pray:

For the incredible pressures on Police Officers to deal with the terrible things they see

"Consider the terrible things they see in a day:

  • Victims of child abuse and suicide
  • Victims of a car crash
  • Murder
  • Theft
  • Battered pensioners
  • The ravages of drug addiction
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Abductions

Please pray for the strength to deal with the things that none of us want to see.

Please pray for the wisdom and ability to separate work from family life so that they can enjoy a much earned respite from community problems.

Please pray for protection from the stresses of the job.

"He will not let you stumble and fall; the one who
watches over you will not sleep
 (Psalm 121:3)
