Neighbour's Aid currently sponsors a family group home for 11 disadvantaged children in Jerusalem:

The Orr Shalom homes work with moderately to severely emotionally disturbed and abused children and a significant number of new immigrant children from troubled families.

The Childrens' homes provide a place to learn that a hand can be extended in caring, not in violence, and hopefully serve to break the cycle of abuse for generations to come.

Orr Shalom tell us, "Of the 2,340,000 children in Israel, 28 percent live below the poverty line and as the economy deteriorates further, these numbers will increase.

Approximately 330,000 of these children are considered to be at varying levels of high risk, and 200,000 have been identified and are being monitored by the Ministry of Social Welfare.

Of these, 68,000 are being raised for the most part outside of their biological homes, and 10,000 have been removed from their homes because they are in imminent danger."

Orr Shalom's goal is to stop this vicious cycle of abuse and violence.
