Producer Steve McEveetyDawn Treader Poster Unveiled

by Angela Walker

Christian Cinema.Com

Artwork for the new Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the latest film in The Chronicles of Narnia, was just unveiled [See at right]. Hinting at the film's emphasis, the main image on the poster is Aslan, voiced by the inimitable Liam Neeson.

Reepicheep (voiced by Bill Nighy) appears on this poster, and if you look very closely, you see a silhouette of the Dawn Treader itself as a reflection in Aslan's eye.

After seeing early clips of the movie at the recent Biola Media Conference, I'm excited to see the film, which will open in theaters this December. Even with a temporary soundtrack and incomplete post-production sound editing, visual effects, etc., the film resembles The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe more closely than it does Prince Caspian, which many felt was a departure from the C.S. Lewis stories.

For this film in the epic series, Walden Media paired with 20th Century Fox. Walden Media's president Michael Flaherty presented the clips at the conference, and in an interview with Phil Cooke, discussed the transition from Disney to 20th Century Fox, which he feels has a vision for the films that fits more closely with Walden Media's.

The Story

Lucy and Edmund Pevensie return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace where they meet up with Prince Caspian for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship The Dawn Treader. Along the way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors before reaching the edge of the world.

Christian Cinema.Com

ChristianCinema.com, Inc. is a US based motion picture production and distribution company founded in 1999. They have spent years developing relationships with independent filmmakers in order to bring you the best movies and documentaries our industry has to offer. Every title is screened before being added to their database to insure a standard of quality and that it represents a biblical worldview. Our desire is to get the word out about what is happening with Christians in the film industry today and want to encourage the making of more films from a Christian perspective. Some of these films will be obviously evangelistic while others more subtle in how the Gospel and attributes of Jesus are communicated.

Christian Cinema.com believe the Good News not only saves, but transforms. Some of the most powerful films communicate various themes of transformation: redemption, grace, love, hope, healing, and faith to name a few.

Christian Cinema.ComWhen you buy movies from this site you are not only buying a movie, you are helping the ongoing efforts of Christian filmmakers to continue making better films with a message that counts.
