Faces of Israel

Question 3 : "I always thought God had finished with the Jews. After all, they broke their part of the covenant" ?

Answers :

Read Rom 11:1 for starters, then Jer.31:35-36

God's covenant with Abraham (Gen 12:1-3) which is the foundation covenant for the Jewish people is an unconditional covenant. Abraham was asleep when God cut the covenant) that's why we have Heb 6:13-18. God effectively made the covenant with Jesus according to Gal 3:16.

Unfortunately, some segments of the Church have propagated the myth that God has long finished with the Jews, which has been fueled more in anti-Semitic bias than biblical accuracy. God has repeatedly punished his people over the ages for breaking faith with Him, but if anyone can find me chapter and verse that God has irrevocably rejected the Jewish people, I would like to know about it! In the meanwhile, I would like to suggest an honest study of Jeremiah 31:35-37; Ezekiel 36:22-38 and innumerable related texts in the Old Testament; and Chapters 9, 10 and 11 of Romans in the New Testament, with particular notice of Romans 11:25-29. It may come as a surprise to some, that not all theologians past and present have been scrupulously honest, nor have all been free of the tentacles of anti-Semitism.

Beyond the above Scriptures, my book "Where Is the Body?" is a systematic study with a myriad more prophetic Scriptures that clarify that Israel's grand jubilee is yet to come -- and that more likely sooner rather than later given the current evolvement of events in the Middle East.

""In that day I will restore David's fallen tent. I will repair its broken places, restore its ruins, and build it as it used to be, so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear My Name," declares the Lord, Who will do these things. "The days are coming," declares the Lord, "when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills. I will bring back my exiled people, Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them." Amos 9:11-15.

The Restoration of Israel is happening in our day and if we really want to hear what God is purposing for these days in which we live, we must feel His heartbeat for Israel and the Jewish people. A gospel without Jesus' brothers, the Jews, is an incomplete gospel and sadly, too much of the Church has an incomplete gospel..."

This quote comes from Jesma O'hara's online study entitled : "The Day of Restoration for Israel and the Church"-

And you haven't?

Has God finished with the Christian Church because of her "backsliding" and appalling history?

Heaven forbid! Likewise, despite Israel’s backslidings, God's covenant promises to the Jewish people will never be revoked, and this includes his eternal covenant with them as a people and their eternal possession of their land.
