Update
from THE FRONTLINE
GREAT
NEWS FOR FRONTLINE
ADVOCATES
The 21 year old
war in Northern
Uganda is finally
subsiding with incredibly
peaceful changes.
A recent interview
with a refugee returning
home to Gulu - after
staying in an internally-displaced
persons (IDP) camp
for many years,
commented, "When
I first came back
all I could hear
was the birds singing.
So quiet, it was
beautiful. I thought
I was dreaming and
started to cry";
¹ The
man has now built
three huts, is farming
food and is planning
to build more huts
for his entire family.
Other than people
returning home from
refugee camps, the
night commuter shelters
for children have
all but closed down,
optimism has increased
and armed conflict
decreased.
However,
as the region
stabilizes, the
work of Family
Challenge's FRONTLINE
seems to be needed
and in demand
more than ever.
The EMPOWER Trauma
Rehabilitation
program continues
to spread far
and wide throughout
Northern Uganda
with recent expansions
into Kitgum, Lira,
and Padea Districts.
In a movement
unprecedented
in any war zone
throughout history,
your support has
enabled THE FRONTLINE
movement to rehabilitate
trauma victims
throughout the
entire North of
Uganda. With expansion,
of course, comes
increased commitment
and the requirement
for logistical
support. Requests
continue to pour
in from around
the world for
access to the
EMPOWER trauma
rehabilitation
program (not only
for victims of
war, but now also
for former child
sex-slaves rescued
from brothels,
and victims of
natural disaster).
Thank
you to those supporters
of the FRONTLINE
movement who faithfully
contribute to
the cause on a
monthly basis.
Together, we are
making a serious
impact in the
lives of people
around the world.
You need to know
that your support
is more important
now than it’s
ever been! If
you know of someone
who would like
to make a contribution
the FRONTLINE
movement, direct
them to http://www.thefrontline.org.au/index.cfm?event=contribution
Inspired
by the words on
Churchill, we
are committed
for the long haul
to make this world
a better place,
and do that which
has never been
done before!
"Never
give in. Never
give in. Never,
never, never,
never--in nothing,
great or small,
large or petty--never
give in, except
to convictions
of honor and good
sense. Never yield
to force. Never
yield to the apparently
overwhelming might
of the enemy."
W. Churchill;
1941
Thanks for
standing with
us in this good
fight!
