Some people say God hates homosexuals. What do you think?

God clearly says in Scripture that He loves people. John 3:16 says "God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die." God says and we believe that He loves everyone. It doesn't matter whether they're gay or straight, male or female, black, brown, white.... God created everyone and everything, and He loves all the people He made. That is why we can say from John 3:16...

God loves homosexual men and women of this world so much that He gave his only Son, so that any homosexual man or woman who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.

It is true that God has also said that sexual behaviour outside of marriage between a man and a woman is wrong. God says that He created sex and sexuality. He says that He wants us to follow His design for sex and sexuality. And He warns that not following His design for sex and sexuality has consequences - physical, emotional, relational and spiritual consequences. But while Scripture clearly says that certain behaviour is wrong, it does not mean that God hates the people who do that behaviour.

Whether you are attracted to others of the same sex or the opposite sex, we want to assure you that God loves you very very much.

For more information about Christianity and homosexuality, we invite you to the read the Articles section in the Exodus Global Alliance website.

Can a homosexual be a Christian?

We understand the issue of Christian faith to be faith in Christ. Many Christians have difficulties with moral issues. Some of these issues take months, years, or even a lifetime to resolve. Homosexual behaviour in a person's life may be one of those long-time issues.

In that sense, we certainly believe a gay person may truly be a Christian. With regard to morality, the scriptures call us to "judge for yourselves what is right" (Luke 12:57), but with regard to other people to "judge not" (Luke 6:37). So whereas we make a moral (value judgement) on homosexual behaviour, the question of whether the lives of individual gay Christians are yielded to Christ is between them and God, and not for us to judge.

We accept their statement of brotherhood through Christ and pray that it is true.

Are you homophobic?

By definition, homophobia is "fear or hatred of homosexuals". We neither fear nor hate homosexual people. Actually many of the people in Exodus, ranging from international leaders and Member Ministry leaders to people working in our many locations once were homosexuals. We believe that every person has the freedom by God to live their lives according to their understanding. We respect that.

We also respect that some gay and lesbian people do not want to be lesbian or gay. And there are people who are attracted to their own sex but who would never consider themselves gay or lesbian. We are here for all these people and offer our support of their journey toward becoming the people they want to be.

Exodus Global Alliance is a world-wide Christian organization helping people affected by homosexuality and promoting the message that "Change from homosexuality is possible through the power of Jesus Christ."

Exodus provides Christian hope and help to people affected by homosexuality; teaching those who respond to homosexuals with ignorance and fear about God’s love and grace; and teaching those who uphold homosexuality as a valid orientation about God’s Lordship and holiness. These two extremes fail to convey the fullness of redemption found in Jesus Christ, a gift that is available to all who commit their life and their sexuality to Him.
