Rev Fred Nile rejects Victoria’s proposed “relationship register”
Reverend Nile, who is the longest serving current member of Australia’s first House of Parliament, the NSW Legislative Council, and who was re-elected on 24 March with an increased vote, restated the policy of Christian Democratic Party that Marriage can exist only between a man and a woman.
“It seems that the Victorian plan is to invent a form of “quasi-marriage” intended to bestow upon same-gender partnerships the legal rights properly enjoyed by married couples,” said Reverend Nile. “The effect would be to undermine the blessèd institution of marriage.”
“What we are seeing is gradual change which will, in due course, lead to legal same sex homosexual ‘marriages’. That is why we must say no to these proposed ‘relationship registers’. Councils should also be prohibited from setting up Council ‘Relationship Registers’ thus interfering with marriage laws”.

Fred Nile Congratulates Prime Minister For Stopping ACT Same-Sex Bill
The Rev Fred Nile MLC, Leader of the Christian Democratic Party, has congratulated the Prime Minister, John Howard, for his prompt action in overruling the ACT homosexual, same-sex civil unions Bill, which virtually legalises a form of same-sex marriage, even with legal ACT celebrants.
‘The homosexual lobby must accept the fact that the institution of marriage can only be between a male and a female, not two homosexual men or two lesbians’ said Rev Fred Nile MLC.
‘The promoters of same-sex marriage are blind to two facts. Firstly, legalised same-sex marriage is an attack of the God-given institution of marriage, therefore it must be opposed.
‘Second, it is NOT an issue of human or civil rights. Homosexual activity is a lifestyle choice. Hundreds of men who originally chose the homosexual lifestyle have now chosen to be heterosexuals.
The Rev Hon Fred Nile, Leader of the Christian Democratic Party, has called on the Federal Government to invalidate the ACT Civil Unions legislation, which is a backdoor way of legalising same sex homosexual ‘marriages’.
‘The ACT Civil Unions Act which was passed on Thursday 11th May, 2006, mimics marriage so that homosexual civil unions are treated as if they were legal marriages and entail the same processes as marriage, eg signing a statutory declaration, having two public witnesses and a ceremony of union conducted by a licensed civil celebrant’ said Rev Fred Nile MLC.
