Becoming Voice for those
without a Voice
Doctor
Robi Sonderegger, has
issued a challenge to
Sunshine Coast residents
and beyond to become champions
against injustice and
a voice for children whose
cry goes unheard.
"We are not asking for
your money, we want more
than that! We want your
voice, your gifts and
talents and most importantly
your heart."
Dr. Robi's newly formed
FRONTLINE Movement is
gathering momentum and
support on behalf of the
estimated 35,000 Ugandan
children that have been
abducted and tortured
by the fanatical Lord's
Resistance Army (LRA).
Led by the religious dictator,
Joseph Kony, the LRA set
out on an unholy quest
to cleanse Ugandan soil
from evil twenty years
ago. They have terrorized
the Ugandan people with
a traumatic and emotionally
manipulative violence
that has caused even the
United Nations to declare
Uganda to be the "most
dangerous place in the
world for children to
live and the world's worst
unattended emergency".
Abductees
have been subjected to
brutal amputations of
limbs, witnessed the murder
of parents, have been
forced to kill other captives.
Children found crossing
the path of the LRA have
had their nose and ears
cut off, and eyes plucked
out and are punished with
instant execution if they
cry out in pain.
Thousands of abducted
children have managed
to escape captivity although
there are genuine fears
amongst government officials
and professionals that
the abuse and post-traumatic
stress they have experienced
will create another destructive
cycle of violence if not
dealt with.
Dr
Robi's expertise in the
area of cross-cultural
child trauma has enabled
him to train aid agency
workers using the evidence
based trauma rehabilitation
program that he has developed.
Organizations such as
World Vision, Children
of War, and Childcare
International, have incorporated
the program, which is
based on forgiveness,
life-purpose, identity
formation and leadership,
into their staff training.
FRONTLINE
inspires local communities
to action through seminars,
small group initiatives
as well as through the
Frontline.org website.
The
challenge is to raise an
army of everyday people
who will stand up to do
what no one else in the
world is doing, to:
- "
Be a voice and build the
social conscience of national
and international bodies
so that the Northern Ugandan
atrocities are not ignored.
- "
Be champions against injustice,
rallying to make a difference
in the lives of nearly
2 million internally displaced
refugees.
- "
Fight to return to children
their lost childhood and
break the cycle of violence
by giving war affected
children the opportunity
to participate in trauma
rehabilitation
Christians
are encouraged to explore
ways they can participate
or practically contribute
by making a noise, spreading
the word, lobbying or fundraising.
The
impact and reach of FRONTLINE,
largely depends on its ability
to rally concerned individuals
to their cause, helping
to stop this war against
innocents.
