Bringing the Kingdom of God to the Outback
12th Jan 2009
Happy New Year!
Jan and I would like to share with you some of the projects we will undertake in 2009, so that you will know where some of the finances you have so wonderfully sown into our ministry, will be spent.
Firstly, we will be looking to produce a documentary on the Remote and Indigenous Churches of Australia.
We plan to visit places like Arnhem Land (NT), the Kimberleys (Nth West WA) and Yarrabah (Nth Qld).
We already have professional cameras arranged and the services of a cameraman and pilot (we will have to fly into some of the remote areas). We already have had some interest shown from Christian TV and even Christian TV in the USA.
I believe the Lord has laid it upon my heart to bring to notice the plight of many of these isolated churches and the problems they face - isolation, apathy, drug, alcohol and substance abuse - sexual crimes against children and much, much more!
The only hope these people have is the Gospel!
One only has to look at the saturation of information and pleas for the church in Africa, New Guinea and Asia - yet hardly a mention is made about the plight of our own 'Judea'. Please don't misunderstand me, I am not suggesting we should not be involved in overseas missions. The Bible talks about taking the Gospel into these other places - but not at the risk of neglecting our own people.
Paul writes: 'To the Jew first and then the Greek'. In other words our own people first! Jesus took the 'Good News' to his own people first, even to his own hometown!
The reason I believe so much Australian finance flows overseas is a direct result of the exposure these ministries and countries receive in the media.
So Jan and I want to bring to the attention the plight of our own people in our own country. Hopefully, besides focusing on the problems, we can be part of the answer by bringing the Gospel to some of these remote areas - bring them so hope in the form of preaching, Gospel music and gifts of teaching books, tapes, dvds and cd's. We also plan to bring in pastors from some areas to attend major conferences.Â
If you feel led to get involved with us in the project please contact us.
We would solicit your prayers as we undertake this task together in 2009!
We love you, appreciate you, believe in you and pray for you.
Col and Jan StringerÂ
