Sending a Message to Pro-Abortion Celebrities :
April 26, 2004
Sunday has come and gone for the pro-abortion march in Washington, D.C. Approximately 800,000 people protested strongly, condemning George W. Bush and religious conservatives for hurting ''reproductive freedoms'' of women everywhere. If that was not bad enough, abortion advocates had Hollywood celebrities to back the event, having popular voices persuading and reaffirming that it was okay to terminate a child's life as long as the fetus was still inside the womb.
Many of the celebrities that supported the march didn't surprise me at all. Christina Aguilera, Alec Baldwin, Ellen DeGeneres, Melissa Etheridge, Janeane Garofalo, and Natalie Maines from the country band "The Dixie Chicks" were among the predictable names that have notorious reputations for supporting anything that is immoral and indecent in this country.
However, some of the celebrities that were at the event flabbergasted me: Ashley Judd, Lisa Loeb, Salma Hayek, and Amy Jo Johnson, who starred in the once popular kid's television series ''Mighty Morphing Power Rangers.'' It was sad and disappointing for me to see such talented people support an unholy act of human ignorance. After all, these are the entertainers we give our hard-earned money to so that they may entertain us
After reading about the ''Women's Rights March'' article, I contemplated how anyone could justify the death of a fetus based on the fact that it is not fully formed. Humans are always in a state of growth. Babies do not have a fully hardened skull and do not have perfect vision. They cannot walk or talk properly or function as an independent person until a ripe age, so how does the validation of abortion stand? Is human life outweighed by the inconvenience of carrying the child for nine months?
Patricia Heaton, star of the hit comedy series "Everybody Loves Raymond," said it best when she stated, "I find it impossible to subscribe to a philosophy that believes that the destruction of human life is a legitimate solution to a problem that is mostly social, economic, and psychological. In reality, most women 'choose' abortion because they believe they have no other choice."
.... It is both poignant and hypocritical that these same groups of celebrities protest against sending troops into Iraq and convict Bush as a warmonger, yet will defend the never-ending massacre of innocent babies inside the womb.
I know that this column will generate negative responses from pro-abortionists and I can already predict what kind of responses I will receive. Some of them will write that no fetus has an alienable right to be inside the womb, but I will respond that no doctor or any other person has a human right to kill an innocent life. Some will write that life does not begin at conception, but at the time of delivery. I will counter and write that God knitted all of us in the womb from the very beginning of conception, according to the Bible. Some will write that I shouldn't use the Bible as a means to prove my claims because it is a religious source, but I reply that these same religious sources state not to murder, steal, or commit adultery. Should we then eliminate those laws because they originate from religious sources? If their answer is yes, then may God save their souls.
