Prayers
answered
Festival of Light, Australia
- Media Release:
7 September 2007
Dear
Friends,
I
must confess that this morning
I was feeling very down.
John
Kerrison interviewed me for
ABC SA Stateline yesterday
afternoon and was initially
very friendly - but some disturbing
incidents later on suggested
that tonight's program could
turn out to be a "hatchet
job".
However
many people were praying,
and reminded us that all things
work together for good for
those who love God and are
called according to His purpose
(Romans 8:28). We were uplifted
- and your prayers were answered!
David
and I watched Stateline tonight
(the transcript should be
on the ABC website soon, for
those interstate who may be
interested), and felt a deep
sense of relief.
True - the program heavily
promoted the "mass gay wedding"
planned as part of the SA
Gay and Lesbian Feast Festival
in November, and several homosexual
and lesbian partners were
interviewed at some length
about their right to "marriage"
and "equality".
The
program also left a lot out
- including my statement that
a major purpose of marriage
is to produce and raise stable,
well-adjusted children for
the nation's future, something
only man-woman marriage can
do; that sodomy is harmful;
that no one is "born" homosexual,
as a large Australian study
of identical twins proved
when it found that where one
identical twin was homosexual,
the other was heterosexual
in the vast majority of cases.
Homosexuality is a result
of life experiences rather
than genes. But we praise
the Lord that the producer
also left out footage which
we had not realised was being
filmed and were later concerned
could be used to distort our
message.
My
brief "sound bites" did convey
our concern that marriage
is being undermined by those
who want to change its age-old
meaning of a lifelong exclusive
union of a man and a woman;
and above all that there is
hope for homosexuals - change
is possible.
We just pray that some homosexuals
or lesbians who were watching
may have caught that message.
There
is also some good news about
Channel 10's "Californication"
program. Eleven businesses
have now withdrawn their ads
- Holdens, Holeproof, Spotlight,
BankSA, Bridgestone Tyres,
Mitre 10, Aussie Home Loans,
G E Money, WOW Sight & Sound,
NetAlert, ACTU - and more
are thinking about doing so.
You can help them make up
their minds - I have attached
a sheet collated by Jenny
Stokes of Salt Shakers with
help from Festival of Light
Australia, which you may find
useful.
God bless!
