Australian Christian Lobby initiates New Quarterly Public Policy Magazine called ‘Debate’.
In a major development, Fineline Design & Publishing in conjunction with ACL will be officially releasing before the upcoming election a new quarterly public policy magazine called ‘Debate’.
‘Debate’ is intended to generate and inform timely debate on current and future public policy issues from a Christian perspective. 'Debate' is a high quality, professional, refereed publication, targeted at policy and decision makers.
'Debate' will draw on the knowledge and views of a range of expert writers from different Christian traditions (and sometimes from no Christian tradition) who will explore and debate their ideas and recommendations for public policy. The first issue will take an in-depth and informed look at the following issues:
1. Feature Article – Federal Election 2007 and the values debate
2. War on Terror - Managing future conflict
3. Industrial Relations – Going in the right direction?
4. Nuclear Power – Energy, emissions and the environment
5. Housing Affordability – Urban growth and homelessness
Subscriptions are now open via www.debate.net.au or by faxing the pdf subscription form to 02 6162 3337. The website also contains a summary of the authors and articles.
The magazine will sell for $9.95 but for all registered ACL supporters the cost is reduced by 20%. Please subscribe now!
Instead of being confined to defending Christian positions, ACL wants to see the Christian community actively shaping and influencing future public policy debate in Australia. One step toward achieving this outcome is to intellectually underpin discussion and debate of Christian perspectives on public policy in a more structured, academic and professionally credible way. We then want to widely distribute these ideas to policy makers, the broader public, the media and the academic world to assist them in assessing and critiquing public policy from a Christian perspective.
‘Debate’ is targeted towards policy makers and anyone interested in a higher-level critical Christian analysis of public policy. It should make thought-provoking reading.
