Bible Society NSW holds historic meeting to
enable restructure
Bible Society NSW held an extraordinary member’s meeting this week at which four motions to change the Society from a statutory body to a company limited by guarantee were passed.“For the past 80 years, we have operated under a 1927 Act of Parliament,” said CEO Daniel Willis. “However many of the government departments to whom we are supposed to relate, no longer exist,” he said. “When we sought clarification from the government, we discovered we faced all kinds of difficulties because the government does not know how to relate to us,” Daniel said. The decision of this week’s meeting has started a process which is expected to conclude in early 2008, when the Society will become a company limited by guarantee.
“We have sought skilled legal advice and we’re confident that the new structure will enable us to better serve the church, better meet the expectations of our donors and ensure we continue to distribute God’s Word, the Bible,” said Daniel. “One of the anomalies was that we were still linked to British law, because our official name was ‘The New South Wales Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society’. We were also only able to sell the 1611 version of the King James Bible,” he said. “The new structure will deal with each of these problems and ensure we can continue into our third century of operation,” Daniel said.

ACL
backs call for ban on
Lesbian IVF funding
Australian
Christian Lobby | The
rights of children to
at least have the opportunity
of having a mother and
a father should take precedence
over the rights of adults
in non-heterosexual relationships
to have children,” ACL
National Chief of Staff
Lyle Shelton said.

More Madness, More Messed
(21/9)Bill
Muehlenberg | Consider
another case of madness,
again involving the
new world order of fractured
families brought on
by homosexual confusion.
A lesbian “mother” is
battling to stop the
homosexual father of
her child from having
his homosexual lover
declared one of the
child’s parents... “The
Family Court heard this
week the mother had
been in a relationship
with another woman for
about 10 years when
she asked a gay friend
to impregnate her.

(21/9) National
Strategic Summit on
Marriage, Family and

The 'Marriage Manifesto'
- a significant new
document that presents
an analysis of the current
perspective and attitudes
to marriage in Australia,
was launched on Tuesday
18th September AD 2007
at the 'National Strategic
Summit on Marriage,
Family and Fatherhood'
in Parliament House
Canberra.

also our gracious hosts
on the day as they introduced
the excellent line of

220th
Anniversary of the first Service
(16/9) NACL | You will already know
of the world renowned
hymn “Amazing Grace” written
by the Rev. John Newton
in 1772. However, few
people will know that
this same Rev. John Newton
approached the Rev. Richard
Johnson in England on
the 23rd September 1786
with a visionary proposal
to be the chaplain and
missionary on the first
fleet to the “Land Down

Don't
mess with His creation!
(15/9)Gordon
Moyes | There
is an undeniable link
between cannabis use and
a variety of mental problems.
Clearly, social dysfunction
problems are being increasingly
established. Indeed, the
challenge faced by all
responsible public policy
bodies—including State,
Federal and local government
and the community—is to
ensure that those most
at risk of becoming habitual
or regular users of cannabis
are aware of those risks.

SPECIAL
EDITION - SEPTEMBER 2007
Australian
Christian Lobby Monthly
News
(13/9)Jim
Wallace, CEO | There
is little doubt that "Make
It Count 2007" was
very significant in highlighting
both the presence and
commitment of the Christian
constituency. However
we mustn’t simply rest
on our laurels and think
this is all we have to
do for the election. As
Christians we have proven
to politics we exist,
now we have to prove our
discernment!

Freedom
of the Press Curtailed
during APEC
Gordon Moyes | Democracy has taken a
back step when freedom
of the press was curtailed
during the APEC leaders?
meeting. Freedom of the
press was violated during
the APEC Final Declaration
ceremony at Government
House in an effort to
avoid Chinese President
Hu Jintao and other dignitaries
to embarrassing questions.”

Prayers
Answered
(7/9) Roslyn Phillips - Festival
of Light, Australia | John Kerrison
interviewed me for ABC
SA Stateline yesterday
afternoon and was initially
very friendly - but
some disturbing incidents
later on suggested that
tonight's program could
turn out to be a "hatchet
job"
However
many people were praying,
and reminded us that
all things work together
for good for those who
love God and are called
according to His purpose
(Romans 8:28). We were
uplifted - and your
prayers were answered!

There
is also some good news
about Channel 10's "Californication"
program. Eleven businesses
have now withdrawn their
ads - Holdens, Holeproof,
Spotlight, BankSA, Bridgestone
Tyres, Mitre 10, Aussie
Home Loans, G E Money,
WOW Sight & Sound, NetAlert,
ACTU - and more are
thinking about doing
so.

SMH
columnist loses it on
drugs
(7/9)Senator Ron Boswell | “Michael Duffy’s column
in today’s Sydney Morning
Herald is simply outrageous
in its ‘illegal drugs
are fun and do no harm’
message . Drugs are
the cause of immense
pain, crime and waste
of human life..."

I bring before you two
matters for prayer ...The
first: John Kerrison
will be interviewing
me on the "mass gay
wedding" which the SA
homosexual lobby is
planning for this year's
Feast Festival in November...
The second: is "Californication"
- a Channel 10 program
which is possibly the
most serious breach
ever of the Commercial
Television Industry
Code of Practice in
terms of deliberate
and extremely offensive
blasphemy, very frequent
very coarse language
as well as young teen-adult
sex as one of its themes"

"Pornography:
Impacting Your Family
"
(1/9)National Alliance of
Christian Leaders(NACL)| The results are clear
and consistent; exposure
to pornographic material
puts one at increased
risk for [1] developing
sexually deviant tendencies,
[2] committing sexual
offenses, [3] experiencing
difficulties in one’s
intimate relationships,
and [4] accepting the
rape myth. In order to
promote a healthy and
stable society, it is
time that we attend to
the culmination of sound
empirical research.”
